How to reach Matera

From North Italy - Tyrrhenian coast
Take the Rome - Salerno – Reggio Calabria A3 highway. Leave it at the exit of Sicignano degli Alburni and proceed towards Potenza. Then take the direction towards Metaponto (SS 407 Basentana, national road) until you get to the Matera exit.  
 
A3 Salerno – Reggio Calabria >> Exit for Sicignano degli Alburni (150 km from Matera)
E847 Sicignano – Potenza >> continue on SS 407 Basentana towards Metaponto
S.S. 407 Potenza – Metaponto >> Exit Matera (30 km)
 
From North Italy - Adriatic coast
Take the A14 Bologna - Taranto highway. Take the exit Bari Nord. Take the National Road No. 96 towards Altamura and then take the exit for Matera on National Road No. 99.
 
A14 – Bologna – Taranto >> Exit for Bari Nord (60 km da Matera)
S.S. 96 Bari – Altamura >> Exit for Matera (20 km)
S.S. 99 Altamura – Matera >> Exit Matera
